Flinders Golf Club ( - )

Another drive down the fantastic Mornington Peninsula to Flinders Golf Club for a SGA Tour Victoria game.

My first visit to Flinders Golf Club and I was impressed with the course, the layout that makes you think about each shot, and the greens that although soft were still nice and quick.

18th hole - par 4
We had a shotgun start and were on the par 4 18th to start our round.  Weather was cold with a breeze although well below what had been forecast.

Par 3 - 3rd hole
After a good start, par on the 1st and hitting green in regulation on the par 4 second, I proceeded to 4 putt which started a run of 7 points in 7 holes.

Par 4 - 4th hole The Coffin
Some great holes and views along the way though, with the par 4 4th hole having to navigate two "coffin" ravines, one in the fairway and the other just before the green proved testing with limited yardage markers.

View from 5th tee

View from next to 5th hole
The par 5 5th hole has spectacular views and just watch the OOB on left of fairway - and the odd car risking the drive along the course boundary.

6th hole aptly named "The Hill"
The 6th takes you up a gentle hill and away from the coast before turning for home.

RACV Goldfields Resort, Creswick

A weekend away in the Victorian goldfields happened to coincide with a blast of wintery weather.  So with an early morning tee time it was on with the beanie, gloves and a few extra layers of clothing.

The RACV Goldfields Resort is just out of Creswick a lovely small town not far from Ballarat or Daylesford.

The staff are friendly and service excellent, so while my better half headed off for a massage at the day spa, I tested my night vision with a dawn hit off.

A cart is essential here as a number of holes up or down severe slopes.

Both sides of fairways heavily forested and a couple leaving narrow gaps for approaches, or over some majestic gum trees.

There was frost still on the greens and fairways, ice in the puddles and kangaroos plentiful.

A interesting course with nice greens, and often hitting approach shots uphill.

Turned in a little over an hour, and with frost still everywhere, headed of for the second nine.

A maximum temperature of 9 degrees forecast today, although it was not much above 6 all morning.
